What is Mumps?
Mumps is a disease caused by a virus.Its most common symptom is swollen, painful cheeks and neck.Mumps is an acute infectious disease caused by the mumps (paramyxovirus) virus.
How is it transmitted?
Mumps virus is transmitted by airborne transmission or droplet spread as well as direct contact with saliva of an infected person.
What are the symptoms?
The most typical signs of mumps are fever, headache and swollen glands, usually under the ears or jaw on one or both sides of the face.
Swelling is painful and makes the cheeks bulge out.
